Roger Urwin: Investing in the New Financial Order (Video)

Posted In: Philosophy

In a presentation at the India Investment Conference, Roger Urwin, global head of investment content and advisory director at Towers Watson, reviewed the three challenges of investing that have been intensifying in recent times:

  • The new normals: The divergence in macro view, setting strategy consistent with alternatives, and the need for wider and longer term thinking.
  • The new practice: The changing framework for alpha and beta, governance and culture of risk management, and risk-based asset allocation.
  • The new “isms” or ideologies: Governments’ roles in the uncertain and volatile outlook, the effectiveness and significance of the investment chain, the trend of sustainable investing, and the future of finance and the financial ecosystem.

The session was moderated by Navneet Munot, CFA, chief investment officer at SBI Funds Management Pvt., who is a member of the India Association of Investment Professionals, the local society of CFA charterholders.
