Investor Forum 2019: Driving Actionable Analytics

Posted In: Financial Reporting

XBRL US held Investor Forum 2019: Driving Actionable Analytics in New York on 4 November. The event was cosponsored by CFA Institute and CFA® Society New York.

Data standards are rapidly being recognized as critical drivers in new markets and new tools. This half-day forum provided practical information about how data standards are disrupting the information ecosystem, how they can be leveraged, and where they are headed.

Mohini Singh, ACA, financial reporting policy group, participated in a panel on “Rethinking Quarterly Financials.” Panelists provided their perspectives on the following questions:

  • Earnings announcements and 10-Q filings are submitted to the SEC every quarter. Do quarterly submissions encourage short-termism?
  • Does the earnings announcements provide a different value than the 10-Q?
  • Should the earnings announcement be provided in a structured format?
  • Do one or both impose an unnecessary burden on issuers?

You can listen to the panel on YouTube:
