Speakers confirmed for portfolio management sessions

Stan Beckers, managing director of BlackRock Solutions, EMEA, will draw on his extensive equity management experience for his presentation, “The Evolution of Risk Management.” Mr. Beckers will discuss the roles that absolute and relative risk should play in portfolio management and examine whether traditional risk management theories and assumptions apply in today’s markets.

Axel Merk, president and chief investment officer of Merk Funds, will be giving his presentation “Currency Wars: Choose Your Weapon.” Mr. Merk will apply his expertise in hard money, macro trends, and international investing to a discussion of what different countries perceive as their best interests, and how they aim to achieve them.
