Henry Azzam and Middle East Capital Markets

Azzam is chairman of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at Deutsche Bank and has written five books on the region’s economy and capital markets. Dr. Azzam’s career in the MENA region includes time spent as chairman of the board of NASDAQ Dubai, chairman of Dubai International Financial Exchange, CEO of Jordan Investment Trust, and as an international advisory board member at the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).

Dr. Azzam is an expert on the Middle East and the economic influences specific to the region, and spoke with The Prospect Group in a recent interview. In this video, he discusses a number of topics, including the region’s need to develop a secondary market for bonds and sukuks, noting that “to have a liquid secondary market you need two things, more companies need to issue bonds and you need investors that are aware of these opportunities.”
