Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha, CFA, CEO of the Association of Capital Markets Investors — a nonprofit that aims to protect minority shareholders rights in listed companies — examines corporate governance developments in Brazil. He also discusses his recent appointment to the board of Brazilian oil company Petrobras; the recently created takeover panel set up by Brazilian institutions to ensure equitable treatment of small shareholders in takeovers; and the economic implications of unrest in the country.
