José Valer Davila, PhD

Biography

José Carlos Valer Davila, PhD, is an economist and former banker specializing in financial regulation, sustainable development, and the use of artificial intelligence in economic policy and valuation. He previously served as chief financial officer of Peru’s national development bank and Banco Santander Perú. He holds a PhD in economics and an MSc in Financial Regulation and Global Central Banking from the University of Warwick, and an MBA from the University of Oxford. He teaches sustainable finance, financial regulation, and economic policy. His research also covers pension policy, natural-resource sustainability, and capital-market competitiveness. He has held visiting appointments at Columbia University and the University of Oxford, and has served on the CFA UK Ethics & Professionalism Steering Committee since 2022.
