Emanuel Derman: Quantitative Investing and the Limits of Financial Models (Video Interview)

Before heading off to the CFA Institute Financial Analysts Seminar in Chicago in late July, Emanuel Derman, a leading practitioner of quantitative finance, stopped by our New York offices for a brief interview. Derman, whose latest book is called, Models.Behaving.Badly: Why Confusing Illusion with Reality Can Lead to Disaster, on Wall Street and in Life, spoke about his motivations for writing the book, the origin and application of “The Financial Modelers’ Manifesto,” which he coauthored with Paul Wilmott, and the limits of quantitative finance.
