Career Conversations: The Process of Personal Branding (Video)

As a career management strategy, personal branding is essential in differentiating and marketing yourself in competitive finance careers. Having a successful process is important to building your personal brand.

In this Career Conversation, branding consultant Jean Oplinger considers why buzz persists around the concept of personal branding and the process of developing a personal brand.

Among the important keys to developing your personal brand are the three Es:

  • Extract: Discover within yourself the authentic values and interests that constitute your brand.
  • Express: Make a plan and determine what media and activities best support the expression of your brand.
  • Exude: Give yourself permission to really be yourself.

CFA Institute has examined personal branding’s angles previously, including in: “Career Conversations: Personal Branding” and “How Personal Branding Changes as Careers Progress.” Even more Career Conversation podcasts are available on the CFA Institute website.
