John Rogers, CFA, president and CEO of CFA Institute, recently discussed shareholder responsibility in an interview with Bloomberg TV’s “The Pulse.” He discusses how shareholder short-termism is detrimental to confidence at both the issuer and investor level. Referencing a CFA Institute report, Visionary Board Leadership: Stewardship for the Long Term, he also emphasizes that investors and boards need to think for the long term and that obsession with quarterly or even semi-annual earnings is not healthy for a corporation’s long-term growth.
